Sondra Endermologie® is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared, mechanic-stimulation therapy using motorized rollers and suction to create a skin fold. This technique stimulates tissues to increase circulation, enhance lymphatic drainage, and break down fat deposits, primarily aiming to reduce cellulite and enhance skin tone, as described on the official LPG America science page.
The treatment uses a hand-held device with rollers to massage the skin, often in combination with a specialized body suit (stocking) worn by the patient for optimal roller movement. Treatments typically last between 30 and 60 minutes and often require a series of 5–6 sessions to see visible results. The strength of the treatment is adjustable based on the patient’s comfort level. LPG America has also manufactured equipment for home treatment, the Wellbox.
Mechanisms
Mechanical stimulation. The core of the treatment is mechanical stimulation, which stimulates tissue and triggers physiological responses within the connective tissue, as explained in a study published in the MDPI Journal.
Subcutaneous tissue mobilization. The device, utilizing a combination of suction and motorized rollers/flaps, creates a “skin fold” that lifts and rolls the subcutaneous tissues, enabling deep, precise tissue mobilization.
Circulation and lymphatic system activation. The action stimulates microcirculation, increasing blood flow and oxygen delivery to the targeted, which helps reduce fluid retention and toxins.
Adipocyte and fibroblast stimulation. The mechanical action acts on adipocytes (fat cells) to encourage lipolysis (fat breakdown) and on fibroblasts to stimulate collagen and elastin production, which firms the skin and improves its texture.
